How it works
- Define the role. We talk through the work, the skills and software needed, the working hours and how you’ll review output.
- Match and onboard. We put forward a team member for the role. You give access to your systems and share your procedures, and we agree the first weeks’ tasks.
- Settle in. Work starts with closer review and feedback. It then moves to your normal review routine once you’re comfortable.
- Ongoing support. Your staff member is backed by our wider team, so you’re not relying on one person alone.
Working hours
- UK firms: our team works UK working hours as standard.
- US hours: shifts covering US working hours are available on request.
Working hours for a dedicated team member are agreed when the role is defined.
How we choose and support your person
- Skills test. Every team member completes a skills test before they join your team.
- Backup cover. If your named team member is away, we provide backup cover.
Software your team member works in
We work in Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, FreeAgent and KashFlow.
HR services alongside your team member
We can also provide HR services alongside your dedicated staff. Ask us about this when we define the role.
You stay in control
Your dedicated team member works to your instructions and your quality standards. Client contact, review, sign-off and submissions stay with your firm unless you agree something different with us in writing.
Frequently asked questions
Is a dedicated staff member our employee?
No. They’re part of the SHRM Tax Advisors team and work exclusively on your firm’s files.
Can we interview or choose the person?
We’ll agree how selection works when we define the role, so you’re comfortable with who joins your team.
What if the work changes?
Your staff member can move between tasks within the agreed role. If the workload changes significantly, we’ll review the arrangement with you.
What happens if my team member is away?
We provide backup cover, so your work doesn’t stop while your named person is out.
Is this better than outsourcing by the job?
It depends on your workload. Steady, recurring work suits a dedicated person, and seasonal peaks often suit per-job outsourcing. We can talk through both.
